More than just a contemporary arts current we are aligned with the term Performance proposed by Performance Studies (an area of investigation developed by Richard Schechner at NYC) where reality is constituted by “performances”, i.e. happenings, behaviors, actions events et al.
It is way of “looking” at reality from a systematic place that allows us to understand the constituent? components of the events that create the reality in which we exist. We define the Performer in a simple yet profound way as a “Being that does”, a “Being in Action”. The Performer is an artist of action who recognizes/ acknowledges his body as departure point of creation and who, at the same time, is a consequent and conscious Performer regarding his condition of a ” Body-Being” in his social and cultural interaction with his environment. To be a performer goes beyond creation and performances in theaters and public spaces in general. It is path and a consciousness to be in the world that does not need applauses and external recognition.
